What was sown among the thorns is the man who hears the word, but worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke it, making it unfruitful.
This parable is of someone who hears the word of God, but that person is so consumed with making money that their greed and deceitfulness overpowers the giving and compassion that needs to be done if a person is a true Christian. These types of people have and want more worldly things. They tend to find happiness and fulfillment in these things. So what do they do? They abandon the word of God as this does not fulfill their needs.
As God sais, it is more difficult for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven than a poor man the eye of a needle. One cannot serve God and money at the same time. What do we want? To be rich and have a fantastic life on earth and risk spending eternity in hell after we die. Or would we prefer to live without excess, lead other people to the Lord our God to be saved and have a chance at eternal life with the Lord our God?
Which one would you choose?
