Then the devil took him to the Holy City and made him stand on the highest point of the temple. “If you are the son of God,” he said, throw yourself down. For it is written:
He will command his angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. Jesus answered him, It is also written: “Do not put the Lord your God to the test.”
This is the second test the devil gave Jesus. Making him stand at the highest point of the temple. Tempting Jesus to jump off.
Jesus is telling us not to test the Lord our God but to believe and trust in him. We must not barter or make deals with him. We must not reject him and then only use him when we need our circumstances to get better. We must not say to God, if I do something for you then can you help me with something.
When we truly follow God he will keep us from harm. God will protect us from all evil. We would never be in this situation as God will guide us through all our difficult situations in life and faith. We have to believe. I know it is difficult as Faith is not tangible. But the change in us and our situation is.
